That Last Summer Night

Sep 20, 2016 | Beyond Portraits, Uncategorized

This picture was taken on the last night of Labor Day weekend.

All summer long these cottages are alive with light and life. Just looking at this illuminated row you can almost hear the conversations and laughter being shared over long family dinners…dinners enjoyed at cozy ocean-facing kitchen tables as the salty breeze blows in.

Soon most of these lights will go out for the winter. Cottages will be buttoned up for the harsh winds and weather of the Maine cold season. The vibrant days of summer, replaced by the serene solitude the winter beach brings.

I am sad to say goodbye to the days of summer, but I am looking forward to that cold and windy winter walk down the sand surrounded only by the rolling sounds of the waves and the quiet thoughts in my mind.
